Vascular research

in vivo imaging of transplanted vascularized tissues
Objective

To improve the engineering graft survival rate, transplanted tissues were needed for rapid anastomosis of fabricated vasculature with host vasculature and blood perfusion after transplantation. In this study, we established model mice which has the glass chamber window to be easy observation. Using this mic, it is easy to observe the morphology of endothelial cell and blood perfusion flow stained by the dextran solution.
And we transplanted photocross-linkable gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogels subdermally encapsulated human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) to observe anastomosis between host vasculature and transplanted HUVEC networks.

Results

As a result, encapsulated HUVEC formed endothelial networks and were perfused blood because HUVEC networks connected with the host vasculature as early as a week.
